Street Market Report - June 30, 2013

It was a glorious, glorious day, this 30th of June in the year of our lord two thousand and thirteen. Ghosts of markets past throughout the ages could merely but hope to hide in the shadows of Pigeon Park on this day, this grand Vancouver market day.

The weather was spectacular. Not a cloud in the sky, and scorching sun all day long.

The market was not as crowded as it could have been. I think that there were other things to do on Canada Day weekend, and also being after welfare the vendors did not come out in the droves that we expected.

A very light VPD presence in the morning. They did appear when it counted, though...  at 6pm when we were washing the park.

There was a big fight during the day. Two of the illicit drinkers decided that they wanted to hurt each other, and Bear did a great job getting them to leave the park and fight in the alley (the best that he could do).

We did a brisk trade in cold drinks due to the weather, and I think we set a record for drink revenue.

The park was spotless again at 6:30pm, and I've included a number of photos and videos from the day for your enjoyment.

A special guest was Bill McGuire, who claims to be one of the original vendors that started the protests in front of some of the nearby hotels that lead to the development of the market. Thanks for coming by, Bill McGuire.
