Street Market Report - December 16th, 2012

A very quiet day, no major fights. The Crazy porn lady did not return.

Commerce went well:

1) 50/50 draw: $30.31 (based on 321 tickets sold - $80.25 in pot -$40 1prize - $10 2prize ->$30.25)
2) Table/Tent Rental: $147.00 (exactly the same amount as last week)
3) Coffee/Juice: $49.50
4) Bannock: $23.00 (thanks to Yesterday, she is already thinking of going alone with her own tent in Feb!)
5) Donation Sales: $0.00

Total for the day = $249.81 (see attached graph)

Major expenses:
1) $30 - carton of cigs
2) $18.36 - cream and sugar at Costco

Total now in petty cash box = $898.28 (almost enough for 2 weeks of operations). My recommendation is to keep accumulating petty cash in preparation for our shortfall in spring (see below).

Since we paid for 3 weeks of Yesterday's ingredients last week, we are both reaping the benefits this week with good profits on the Bannock. Hopefully Yesterday will keep coming steadily so the customers get used to the Bannock being there.

Boomer was #1 in the morning, and Glenn was #2
DJ was #1 in afternoon, and Dominic was #2

Both shifts did an excellent job in my opinion.

We discussed moving the starting times of the volunteers to 10am to add manpower and overlap at the start, and also to encourage the vendors to not set up too early (they won't have tents or tables until 10am).
This will be discussed at the Saturday meeting, and perhaps give the Vendors a week's warning before implementing the change.

Lorna did a good job collecting names of people with tickets. Discussed this with vivienne @ VANDU and will revert back to Louise only (until we find a cantonese/mandarin speaker) on the outreach table. I will contact Richard Marquez to see if he wants to help.
In January, there will be another volunteer that wants to help with the ticket campaign, or VANDU will assign someone to the outreach table.

We just got our park permits for January, I will bug the Engineering department for the street permits.

We are progressing on plans for 62 E Hastings in the Spring.

Jack is continuing to look for keystone sponsors for the market.

We anticipate a short fall in funding from Feb -> late march since our current spending puts us our of money in early Feb, and the new city grant will not be available until late March at the earliest. We may need to prepare for bare bones mode of operation in the spring, depending on status of fundraising.

NEXT STREET MARKET COMMITTEE MEETING - DECEMBER 24th 4:30PM (come 1/2 hour early, we will have food for 15 catered by Dolores through the friendship centre!!)

Please come to the Saturday meeting if you want to have input in market operations, please come to the street market committee meetings if you are curious about how the street market is governed.
