Street Market Report - April 5th, 2015

This was our Easter Market!!

The festive spirit was everywhere, with lots of colored eggs and chocolates being given out and on display.

The weather did not fail us. It was mostly sunny all day, a beautiful spring day in Vancouver.

We had a record week for revenue with almost $700 being brought in.

The key is that we have expanded to offer more and more items for sale - multiple streams of revenue.

Historically, our first revenue source was the 50/50 raffle.
On a good day, we have about $100 in the pot at the end of the day (4pm), and then we would give away $60 in prizes to take home $40 in revenue. Good for a start, but we quickly expanded from there.

The second source of revenue was from the table rental. With our first $100 saved from the 50/50 revenue, we bought 10 tables from the International School. They were getting rid of them, so they sold them to us for $10 each. These tables, were then quickly rented out for $1 per day each, and created more revenue.

The next thing we added was coffee sales. We noticed that someone was at the market selling coffee from the dugout. We bought a cambro thermos, and started brewing coffee at Jacob's Well. We then saved up enough money to buy our own coffee machine and 2 more thermoses,

Our most recent purchase was a popcorn machine. To date, popcorn alone has pulled in over $240 when the machine itself only cost a little over $300. Now, to be fair, we have expenses and have had to pay the person selling the popcorn, but at this rate, the machine will pay for itself in a few months and will provide at least one person a job on Sunday. This is a huge win.

Next on our wish list is...

1) Cotton Candy Machine
2) Slush Machine - selling slush coffee and fruit drinks

In order to make the next leap, we need to get our food preparation station infrastructure up to standards. This will require constructing a nice stainless steel cart with a proper hand washing sink. We will be able to wheel this around in the market and hook it up to water and power (for hot water for hand washing).

Here is a chart of all street market revenue divided into quarterly results. One can easily see that this year is going to be big!!!

Financial Report (Apr 5)

1) 50/50 Raffle: $33.35
2) Tents/Tables: $263.60
3) Coffee/Pop Sales: $333.50 ($183.45 made on Sunday)
4) Snacks: $41.60
5) Donations: $20.00 (Two people purchased WiFi vouchers this week. This is now 3 people in the last month)

Slushy machine should be on the way in time for the summer weather!!!

Total Revenue for the day: $692.05 (An all time record!!!)
Total spending for the week: $340.34

Petty Cash now = $1,222.93

Vendor/Market Summary

We counted 175 Vendors at noon.

Number of tents deployed = 40
Number of tables deployed = 12 x 5 foot tables, 48 x 6 foot tables, 40 x 4 foot tables
100 total tables deployed during our event.

Bathroom use was recorded 139 for the whole day.
We only had one porta potty for the past several weeks because opening up during the week means that one of them fills up. We are looking into an extra cleanout per week, or another porta potty.
