Street Market Report - July 22, 2012 - $292.52

OK, second biggest day ever - just three days from welfare day. This
shows that we are no longer so much slave to the welfare cycle. My
guess is this is due to the fact that a greater percentage of our
customers are not on welfare, and also, we are providing staples to
the community of market vendors who regularly use some of their
profits to buy pop, bannock, or coffee, etc... when they make some
money at the market.

1) 50/50 Raffle = $50.00 (460 tickets sold which predicts $115 in pot,
$114.80 in pot minus $57 first prize minus $10 = $47.80, but final
count gave $50 due to some counting error)
2) DNC Sales = $25.67 (again, thanks Puff)
3) Bannock = $93.95 (Kelvin woke up at 4am to make the bread, we gave
him $60, since he made 120 bannocks)
4) Coffee/Juice = $85.90 (not a bad day, not the best, at least we had freezies)
5) Table Rental = $37.00 (two people did not pay)

$292.52 was the total take, with an estimated profit for the day of
around $120 (after paying for pop, bannock, Jacek and Puff stipends)

The day was fairly uneventful considering that it was the first day
without Dave Hamm as Onsite Coordinator.

As was democratically decided at the Saturday meeting, Elvis was #1,
and Glenn F was #2.

I thought that Elvis did a great job, but we will rate the #1, and #2
next Saturday.

Other volunteers were as follows:
  AM
Martin S $10
Marilyn $10
Teresa $10
Paul P $10
  PM
Adam $10
Sean $10
Richard C $10
Boomer $10
  Cleanup
Rocky  $10
Dave V $10

(Full report will be handed in to VANDU as per usual)

The plan is to have some kind of rating system for the volunteers as well.

Elvis collected a number of minor complaints. Here is a summary...
1) One vendor next to the bank building has his junk spread way too
far, other vendors are not happy
2) Vendors around public bathroom was annoying some people
3) Drinkers sitting beside the public bathroom was annoying some people

There was a brief incident with the Rev. Barry where he wanted us to
move the porta pottie farther away from his door. We moved it, and he
seemed satisfied. His parishioners can out and sang to the crowd for a
while. I view this as a positive development.

Brenda Prosken made a brief appearance at the market and was given a
tour by Ann and Glenn. Hopefully she enjoyed her visit to the market.

Cheers,

   Roland
