The day was unusually clear and nice. Not Sunny, but not overly obscured.
We had very little police presence again today. It is now the third week in a row that we have not had a goods confiscation at the market. We view this as a good sign.
In the morning, I asked two vendors to move to different spots - either due to another vendor having reserved the spot, or the vendor was in front of the church - and both of them actually moved! They didn't yell and scream, make excuses, swear, or threaten to punch me. It truly was an unusual day.
It is the market before welfare, so we always expect something unusual this week, but politeness and obedience is not necessarily on the menu. Maybe the vendors have finally realized that we are really on their side, and that we are fighting hard to preserve this benefit for them. Maybe on the week before welfare, they just wanted to put their head down and not jeopardize the little survival money that they could make at the market. Who knows?
